I am not entirely tech-savvy, but I think I know enough to be able to make it through this class, and if not, I will certainly learn. My first impression of this course was that I was going to be slightly overwhelmed. I had never really worked with the tools that we use, but I have adapted pretty well so far. This online class is totally different from what I have experienced for many reasons. For one, I have never been in a class that uses the blog formatting, generally the online classes I have taken stick to canvas or moodle. I really want to be able to work on my general web skills and abilities, there are many fine-tune details of the internet that I am not very good at, for example, I just learned that "ctrl-c" will copy the text, yes, it is embarrassing. The only browser extension that I actively use, other than the ones that have been recommended to us, is a tool called "Honey". Since I do a lot of online shopping, Honey is a free extension that searches for coupon codes that get automatically applied at check out, I highly recommend it. I also use Grammarly, but I almost never get any use from it. It is a good tool for those who have a hard time with spelling and grammar.
I was also quite overwhelmed when I went through the first week's orientation for this class. I have never written a blog before so this was a completely foreign concept to me. However, after completing some assignments, I think the concept is growing on me; it's certainly a fun change of pace from my normal engineering coursework. I'm also looking forward to improving my web skills and abilities! By the way, I also use the free browser extension, Honey, and I can't believe how easy it was to install with just two clicks, and it automatically searches the web for available coupon codes to save me money!
