Time Strategies

Personally, my time management skills fluctuate. I am really well organized and I have a tendency to plan out my weeks really well, but I find myself still waiting for the last minute before doing my assignments. Technically, I am doing this a day early, but I would have rather had everything done much earlier in advance. This class is self-led for the most part, so I know I will need to be disciplined in my time management this semester. Last semester, I was the queen of making the most of every moment because I was enrolled in 18 hours while working full time, I had to carve out time in the day just to function, let alone find time to do laundry. This semester, however, I have already been a bit lazy. My biggest challenge this semester will certainly be a discipline like I said, everyone loves to procrastinate. I really enjoyed reading The Important Habit of Just Starting because, for me, half the battle is just getting the motivation to begin the work, completion is the easy part for me. Of course, I understand the intent of the article, but I was less of a fan of The Myth of "Too Busy", although it had a great overall message, I found it less useful to my personal life. Overall, the best tip for me staying on track is just simply maintain a planner. It is such an easy tool to achieve a great outcome, that is the only way I find myself able to keep up.

  1. I agree that time management is key to being able to manage a busy workload. With this course being online, it becomes our responsibility to finish assignments on time since there isn't a physical meeting time to help remind us. However, since it is entirely online, we are also able to create our own unique schedules for the course, allowing us to fine tune our schedules to better manage our precious time. Time management also helps us combat procrastination by enabling us to set aside specific times to finish out tasks, instead of deferring them to a later date.

Week 5 Story: The Modern Buddha

Buddha Figure:  Source          Of course, everyone knows the story of THE Buddha. But what about those doing good for others without recognition. Those people who do right in the world without anyone ever knowing? Well, that is what my brother aimed to do when we were young. We are old and tired now, but when we were young, my brother and I would travel around to the poorest areas in the villages at night. We would drop off bread, clean water, and other necessary material goods. We wanted to be anonymous. Of course, we went our separate paths and I got married and had children, but my brother devoted his life to the public without ever once being publicly known, he never wanted any fame or fortune, he did not want the attention. In fact, he wanted quite the opposite. My brother is dead and gone now, so that is why I have finally decided to tell his story.       My brother went to jail at age 17 and was away for 6 years. I do not want t...
